We offer two main services, each offering a blend of contemporary and traditional worship styles.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the format of our church services is changing frequently. Check back here for the latest updates on the services. Please email the church if you have any questions.
During the month of January 2021, we will not be holding in-person services. Services will still be available online and by phone.
The 9:00 service is held downstairs in fellowship hall. The 11:00 am service is being held upstairs in the sanctuary. Both services are following covid guidelines to minimize infection risk:
-Service limited to 75 people
-Face coverings are required at all times during the service
-Temperatures are taken and hand sanitizer given when entering the church
-Social distancing is required during the church service
Virtual service videos are available on the "Sermons" page.
Sermon by Phone is available for those without internet who want to worship from home. Simply dial the local number 585-207-1858 (it is a free call) and you will you hear a voice tell you that you are about to listen to the sermon from First UMC of Canandaigua. Every Sunday, we will put that day's sermon up on the Sermon By Phone service.
When You Arrive:
Parking is provided in the back of the church. The main entrance is located on the south side of the building, on the left side from Main Street. A handicap elevator is available via a separate door to the left of this main entrance. Once inside, go up the stairs and you will be greeted by members of the church who can help get you settled.
Families with children ages 1-10 can bring their kids to the child care room. An usher can give you directions. At the child care room, you will sign in your child and be given a buzzer that will be used to contact you during the service if needed. Once the service is complete, please return to the child care room and sign your child out.
Most people dress casually, some wear semi-formal, but the most important thing is that you feel comfortable. The bible never said you have to wear a suit and tie to get into heaven, so what you wear isn't a big deal to us either.
